Here is the story about how it all began.....
The unholy Jocke and Martin had gotten the itch back in their evil musical
veins and wanted to start a new band but they were tired of Black Metal and
wanted to do something new, Chockabilly Rock and Roll! At the time, Jocke
and I worked on a radio station in Norrköping/ Sweden and we talked a
lot about music because I had not played in a band for almost four years and
I was very eager to do so. After a while Jocke asked me if I knew of a guitarrist
who could fit in the genre wich they wanted to play, of course I jumped with
joy and suggested myself. We set up a rehearsal date just to see how we got
along and it went (obviously) very well. Now we were a band but we had no
name... I came to think of a friend of mine who collected strange flyers and
chainsaws so I told Jocke about him and how they had gotten a name for their
band, the name STRANGE FLYERS AND CHAINSAWS was born. It was a very long name
though so the projekt name became THE CHAINSAWS! We played and played and
after three or four months we recorded our first demo tape: PIG BLOOD BLUES.
We did some gigs after that but we were not specially recognized by the music
militia. Well, cursed be he who giveth up, four months later we recorded our
second demo: RAZORBACK. It was much more aggressive than the first one and
much more us and the crowd loved it. We soon found our selves massproducing
songs at a supersonic speed but the gigs were nowhere near as up to date.
Well, as I said; cursed be he... so we kept on producing and the music started
to get the right shape, in the beginning we played a mix of blues, punk, r'n'r
and hard rock, but now the genre CHOCKABILLY was born and that is what The
Chainsaws are today.In march '98, the third release was brought to the light;
OPERATION: HELLHOG. It was a good collection of songs but the production wasn't
right. You could almost feel that we were getting tired of not getting any
where. We didn't have that many gigs and even though the genre was right,
it felt like we were standing still. We forced our demos on the record companies
but they were not impressed. Something had to be done! Four months later in
July '98 we finnished the fourth demo: DEMONSWINELINE 666. This was a good
thing because people began to notice us. Letters began to come from lots of
different places like fanzines, mags and record companies. At last someone
noticed us! Unfortunately noone wanted to sign us but they were absolutely
interested. Well, our psychobilly veins started pumping again and in Januari
'99 we unleished the ultimate Chainsaw Production called: MADE IN HELL! After
this release we decided to really do something new. The live sound was a bit
thin because we only had one guitar so we made JIMMY LARSÉN join the brutal
force. He is a brilliant metal guitarist with great hope and with him in the
band we will really rock your creepy little butts of.
In the brutal month of may in the 1999:th year of the unholy plagues the Chainsaws
forced Jimmy in to the studio. The purpose was to record three songs, two
for the Dirty Rock Productions promotion CD and one for a compilation CD to
be released in a near future containg miscellanious Swedish Rock bands. The
songs are not new but re-recordings of old material which we think represent
The Chainsaws in a horrifying way. More information about this shall come....
This is where we are today and the future is still to come so here ends the
Chainsaw demography. For the most recent info read the
