Close-up #25, Sörlings Pigsty It is fun to present a new band from "Peking" (Norrköping-Sweden). The trio calls themselves THE CHAINSAWS and consists of Martin Gustavsson (bass and vocals), Varg Stening (guitars) and Jocke Göthberg (drums). Oh, doesn't ring any bells? Well if I tell you that Martin has a past in DARKIFIED and Jocke played with MARDUK you'll understand. They left black metal for heavy R'n'R and tell me that they are influenced by Rockabilly, hard rock, blues, rock'n roll and some punk. The letter also says that " The CHAINSAWS are not meaning to be special in any way, we just like to play music". I, for one, think that this is a punch on the mouth pointed towards the nowadays totally boring B/M scene, the sheep-heads own forum. The CHAINSAWS took their first limping steps in the month of Mars in 1997. Four months later they bring to light their first self produced demo "PIG BLOOD BLUES" (V). I think that the CHAINSAWS are a bit too hardrock influenced for my taste but with a cupple of beers it works just fine, especially "the devils playground" and the T-REX cover "the children of the revolution" which the Chains renamed "the bringer of your execution" - Excellent, trust me, I tried!

Close-up #27, Sörlings Pigsty April 5:th, the kick off for the Swedish soccer league and also the perfect time for listening to some great "Peking" music like the cool CHAINSAWS who has already finnished their second demo "RAZORBACK" (VI). The difference from their "Pig blood blues" (demo #1) is that it isn't quite as hardrock inspired, which I think is a possitive thing. The new material is instead wilder and nicer. Stening and c:o recorded five songs while rehearsing of which the last in the row is a cover of ALIEN SEX FIEND's " I walk the line". It must be said that any band who salute Nik Fiend and his knights deserves our respect.

Close-up #30, Sörlings Pigsty I strongly doubt that the "peking"-trio The CHAINSAWS visited any sunny beaches this summer, it wouldn't fit my image of this Rock'n roll-trojka. The new "Operation: Hellhog" (VII) is yet another proof of the boys sweet ability. It is messy, sweaty and sometimes really raw. "Boiling blood" has a raw groove to it which goes for the ominous "Common down to my graveyard" aswell.

Close-up #32, Sörlings Pigsty Norrköpings gruesome horror rockers THE CHAINSAWS contributes to this number with their fourth demo "DEMONSWINELINE 666"(VII) which contains eight rock'n roll songs breeded on alcohol and old horror movies. Coolest of them all is "cyclesluts from zombietown". Brrr....

Close-up #33, Sörlings Pigsty Norrköpings Chainsaws seem to like the pigsty, This is their fifth visit. I have allways liked the Peking sons horror rock and roll but I wonder if this "MADE IN HELL" (VII) isn't their best work yet. It's mean, roaring and manic rock with connections to MISFITS. Johnny Rex, The Thing Called Kujo and von Wolfenstein can give me a visit any time again.
